Mark Haroun is an emerging playwright living in Edmonton and a recent graduate of the University of Alberta. His plays have been produced at various festivals including Fresh Fest, The Edmonton Fringe Festival, The University of Alberta's Working Titles Festival and Concrete Theatre's New Sprouts Festival.
Mark is an alumnus of Workshop West's Playwrights' Garage where he received guidance from senior playwright Vern Thiessen and mentored with Conni Massing. His new play for young audiences called A Giraffe in Paris will be workshopped at the National Arts Centre's On the Verge Festival and will premiere at the Citadel Theatre in the spring of 2005.

Synopsis:
The young Prince of Egypt, Amen-Ra, is going on an adventure. He must take a giraffe named Zarafa to be presented to the king of France as a gift. Along their perilous travels they encounter everything from crocodiles and wolves to circuses and magic. This play takes the audience on a heartwarming journey during which the power of courage, friendship, and imagination rule the day.
