One-On-One Dramaturgical Support:

Members may submit a script in development at any time to receive one-on-one constructive feedback and analysis. A one-time fee of $40 provides you with on-going support and feedback through numerous drafts of the script. All plays are read by APN's Dramaturgical Committee, who meet once a month. A plan of feedback and support is created and playwrights are then contacted to meet with a member of the committee to discuss the play and it's development. Face to face meetings are preferred, but discussion may be held by phone or e-mail if a face to face meeting is not possible.

For more information contact Trevor Rueger at trevor@albertaplaywrights.com

or toll-free 1-800-268-8564
Scripts may be submitted by e-mail or regular mail, accompanied by the Script Reading Application Form, the fee, and a letter of intent.

In your letter of intent please briefly outline:
• the history of the play (eg: first draft, fifth draft, previously workshopped, previously produced, etc.) and of yourself as a playwright
• the major themes, ideas, styles, etc., that are being worked on
• what goals you have in seeking support from APN
(eg: "working towards a production ready draft", "hoping to get a draft ready for workshopping", etc.)

The information in this letter is useful to the committee in providing context for your work and assisting in the development of a plan for support

Text-Based Script Development Workshops:

APN members are eligible to apply for script workshops at any time throughout the year. In most cases, we will request that the script be submitted through the Dramaturgical Committee, as outlined above, before a workshop will be considered.

APN can provide workshops ranging from one-half day to three full days, with a cast of professional actors and a director/dramaturge. Workshops can be held anywhere in the province, although if you reside in an area of smaller population, it may be suggested that you travel to a larger centre, such as Calgary or Edmonton for your workshop. APN has funds that can assist you with travel and accommodation if necessary.

To discuss a text-based workshop, please contact Trevor Rueger at trevor@albertaplaywrights.com.

Non-Traditional Script Development Workshops:

APN can also provide workshopping support to members for more non-traditional script development, such as actor-based creations pieces or collective creations. APN can provide workshops ranging from one-half day to 3 days, with actors, musicians, choreographers, directors, dramaturges or other collaborators.

To discuss a non-traditional workshop, please contact Johanne Deleeuw at johanne@albertaplaywrights.com.
